Development, Redefined
About Me
Hey, I am Mrudula
I am 24, and I have a problem: I can't accept things at face value. Someone tells me a policy is "working," and my first question is always "working for whom?"

I am fascinated by how the world connects. How a trade agreement signed in Geneva affects a farmer in rural India, how impact metrics designed in London shape what gets funded in Kenya, how power flows (usually from South to North, disguised as "aid" flowing the other way).

I am training to work in impact consulting, which means building an understanding in economics, policy, and development. But what really drives me is the question beneath all of it. Are we actually making people's lives better, or are we just making ourselves feel better about trying?

The Pattern Journal is where I work through these questions. I write opinion pieces when I am thinking out loud and policy briefs when I have figured something out. I am here to question, to challenge, and to imagine what development could look like if we actually meant it.

If that sounds interesting, stick around.
